Hi, I’m Scott Dikkers, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of “How To Write Funny” and over two dozen humor books.

I've founded several multi-million-dollar comedy brands. The first was my comic strip “Jim’s Journal,” the inspiration for “Diary of a Wimpy KId.” The next was The Onion, the most popular humor publication in the world. I followed that with the AV Club, ONN, and the Weekly Radio Address podcast. I also founded the humor site Blaffo.com, wrote and directed two feature films that sold for independent distribution, and wrote or developed TV projects that sold to MTV, Comedy Central and IFC. My work has won the Thurber Prize for American Humor, a Peabody, and over 30 Webby Awards. I created the popular "Writing with The Onion" program at the Second City Training Cente in Chicago. I've consulted for Comedy Central, NBC, LucasArts, and Pixar.
